The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) today announced the winners of the 2016 National Edward R. Murrow Awards, and WBZ-AM (Boston, Mass.) and WBBM-AM (Chicago, Ill.) were amongst the recipients.

For the Large Market Radio category, WBZ-AM’s 7:00AM Newscast in Boston received the top award for “Best Newscast” for their morning report, which included updates on the 2015 snow storm.  Additionally, WBBM-AM in Chicago was awarded “Best Breaking News Coverage” for their continued coverage following the public release of the video capturing the shooting of Laquan McDonald.

“These prestigious awards further demonstrate that our stations are some of best in business,” said Andre Fernandez, President, CBS RADIO.  “We take pride in the stories we tell locally in our communities, and it is a large part of our legacy at CBS RADIO.  I am thrilled that WBZ-AM and WBBM-AM are being honored for their long standing commitment to journalism.”
