Concert Honors and Celebrates Our Nation’s Veterans and Their Families
Additional Artists to Be Announced on Chicago’s US99 Daily Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13
CBS RADIO is excited and honored to present the second annual STARS AND STRINGS, a stripped-down acoustic concert celebrating our nation’s military heroes and their families, at The Chicago Theatre on Wednesday, Nov. 9, just prior to Veteran’s Day. RIAA’s top digital male country artist of all time Jason Aldean will headline the show. He joined Stylz and Roman, the new morning show hosts on CBS RADIO Chicago country station US99 (WUSN-FM), to announce the news and explain why he wanted to be a part of STARS AND STRINGS.
“Well first of all, my dad is retired military, from the air force, and my grandfather retired from the Navy,” Aldean said. “…I grew up in a home that had a lot of military background and sort of grew up on an air-force base. To me, it means a lot. Veterans are the reason we get to go out every day and do what we do.”
Aldean also announced he would invite many of his fellow country artists and friends to join the line-up at STARS AND STRINGS. He will call Stylz and Roman every morning at 7:10 AM, CT, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 13 to unveil new performers. Together, these artists will perform both solo and in various combinations in a guitar-pull style. Fans should tune in every morning to hear Aldean’s announcement on US99, online at www.us99.com, and through the Radio.com app for mobile devices.
As a salute to those who currently serve or have previously served in our armed forces, a portion of the concert’s proceeds will benefit Folds of Honor, which provides educational support to spouses and children of America’s fallen and wounded soldiers. There are more than one million dependents adversely affected by military deployments and nearly nine out of 10 do not qualify for federal scholarships.
Chris Oliviero, Executive Vice President of Programming, CBS RADIO said, “We are proud to bring back STARS AND STRINGS for the second year, and thrilled that Jason Aldean is joining us to honor our nation’s military men and women. As one of our signature concerts, STARS AND STRINGS is an event that our Company’s entire country station group is excited to support to create a memorable and worthwhile night in Chicago.”
Chase® cardmembers have access to pre-sale tickets and VIP sound check packages beginning Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10:00 AM, CT, through Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10:00 PM, CT. General ticket sales begin on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10:00 AM, CT, through Ticketmaster.
One lucky fan will have the opportunity to win a VIP trip to Chicago through Radio.com’s exclusive contest, which includes tickets to the concert and a meet-and-greet session with Aldean, as well as airfare on a private jet and hotel accommodation. In addition, up to 50 trips will be available to win by listening to CBS RADIO’s country music and news/talk stations in participating markets.
STARS AND STRINGS is among several high-profile events CBS RADIO produces, including WE CAN SURVIVE, THE NIGHT BEFORE and SPF, featuring exclusive performances by the most well-known and up-and-coming artists. Previous performers at STARS AND STRINGS include Dierks Bentley, The Band Perry and Little Big Town.
Hot on the heels of his 17th career #1, Academy of Country Music’s “Entertainer of the Year” Jason Aldean deploys “A Little More Summertime” to country radio serving as the second release from the multi-Platinum singer’s upcoming seventh studio album “They Don’t Know” (Broken Bow Records), available Sept. 9. Aldean has teamed up with longtime producer Michael Knox on the forthcoming album along with the same band on-and-off stage. Aldean has “never been afraid to let his diverse musical interests influence his sound” (The Oklahoman) as each album released has earned platinum or better, tallying more than 14 million album sales. Aldean is currently headlining his Six String Circus Tour. For more information on new music and a full list of tour dates, visit www.jasonaldean.com.
