As the Chief Revenue Officer for CBS RADIO, Bob Philips is responsible for leading all aspects of revenue generation for the business at the corporate, regional, and local levels and developing fully integrated sales solutions and breakthrough strategies to attract new revenue streams. By utilizing CBS RADIO’s multi-platform portfolio, including its 117 over-the-air radio stations and corresponding websites, streaming service Radio.com, podcast network Play.it, and local event discovery business Eventful, Philips works with clients and partners to create custom campaigns to ensure they’re brand message is impactful.
A 28-year broadcast veteran, Philips previously held the position of senior vice president and director of sales for CBS RADIO and earlier served as the senior vice president and market manager for CBS RADIO Baltimore. There he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the four-station cluster, including WJZ-AM/FM, WLIF-FM, and WWMX-FM. During his tenure, Philips directed the negotiations for broadcast rights to the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles and Maryland Terrapin Sports and managed the launch of the very successful CBS RADIO sports station, 105.7 the Fan (WJZ-FM).
Prior to that role, he was General Sales Manager and then General Manager for Baltimore station WQSR-FM. In 1990, he joined Sconnix Broadcasting, where he served as Director of National Sales for six markets. Philips began his career as an account executive for United Broadcasting.
Philips currently serves on the RAB Advisory Board and is an officer for the Maryland DC Delaware Broadcasters Association. He is also involved with many local community and charitable associations.
